If you don't mind me asking, what software are you using for PP?

The full moon is tough to get a good detailed shot because there aren't the shadows you would get like when it more of a crescent.
Try to adjust the contrast, and maybe a little sharpening or unSharp Mask. That should make the Maria, as well as the craters and ridges stand out a little more.

Much better. Now go to levels and slide the sliders in towards that big peak in order to increase contrast and you've got yourself a fine moon picture.

I think the Golden coloured moon in pic #2 looks the best. Plain Grey moons are boring and redundant!

It would be nice to see some images of the full moon which include BOTH the detail of the moon, PLUS the Silvery-Blue "Glow" of the Moon Shine in the same photograph. (The way the human eye sees it.) Instead of just the usual "flat" and boring shineless grey photos we always see.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

With the right software you can still get that Silvery blue(gray) hue that we see, even after converting the color image to a B&W gray scale image.
If you want anything other than than, then shoot it when it is low in the sky and has a little more atmospherically enhanced color.
BTW, I think what you are referring to is Earth Shine! which is what we see on the unlit/shaded side of the crescent moon. For that to be exposed right you would need multiple exposures, i.e. HDR! And for this person using DPP and Iphoto would be impossible.
