It gets very wide on a 5D. You'll definitely want to use a hood with it. The EW-60D hood isn't very common but the EW-60C (18-55, 28-80, 28-90) also fits it. The lens is quite prone to flare and loss of contrast if the sun hits the front element. On a crop camera, the light fall-off and distortion isn't bad. On the 5D if you don't stop down, there is some peripheral darkening although usually you stop a wide angle down anyway.
The main draw to the lens is the very small size, very light weight, wide angle and quick focusing. My copy is quite sharp too. The main drawback is the flare problem for me.
Be prepared to work around its limitations and be aware that it is one of Canon's lenses from their low-end line so don't expect an L quality build at this price point.
