How about some Zeiss on Canon?

They're all Zeiss made for Nikon bodies and then fitted to the Canon with a Novoflex adapter.

That's some impressive glass there. I was using Leica glass with my 20D for a while. It was fun. I take it you're quite the expert at MF? ;)

Hey Mike,

I assume that if you're using the 100-400mm with a 2x TC then you must be working outdoors with plenty or light. Yes?

And then some! As it is, even with a 1Dxxx body it doesn't AF. It works, the IQ is okay... But having to shoot at f/11 "wide open" is a ****.

So I'm going to fix that nonsense... And pick up a 300mm f/2.8L IS shortly. ;)

How do the ZF lenses work on EOS? Does the aperture ring still stop down, or does it only set the aperture, and it requires an electronic signal to stop down upon the shutter firing? I know that on Nikon it has electronic aperture on shutter firing, but I don't see how that works without the contacts?

I've gotta manually set the aperture. The in-camera meter works great in conjunction with the lenses but I've got to do a lot of opening up...focus...then stop down and shoot. The canon doesn't send or recieve any information from the lens at all. There are adapters that will do a focus confirm...so if a person is holding down the focus button on the canon and the manual focus is correct then the camera will beep.

Actually, I miss a lot of shots because of manual. It's a bummer, and always a compromise ya know. I've still got some canon lenses to use when autofocus is totally necessary. But I grew up shooting an old mamiya c330 so manual focus isn't that foreign of a concept :)

Why is this not a sticky. I had to end up searching for this. Thought I'd find it a sticky.

Just from reading another thread -- I think Canon might any day offer a 50 f/1.0L lens -- the Blue is now famous for cooking breakfast!
