Current setup, minus the lens used to take the shot.

Wow, a constant f/2.8 with more than 3x zoom, you don't see that very often. Does that have any adverse effect on quality?

What do YOU think? ;)

I've seen samples online..Rather soft as heck even on a crop cam and even at web size

Reading a few reviews some say it's sharp and some say otherwise, the few example shots I came across weren't amazing.

The few good ones i saw were from film shooters, Film was in many ways less demanding on glass as people didnt look at images the same way we do now...

Funny how that works...
if you shot film, and got a soft image it was art...
now when you get a soft image, you have to return the lens 3 times, send it in for calibration, try it on your buddies body and take 50 pics of batteries, until you eventually buy a more expensive lens, probably with an L in the name, and sell the soft one here to someone who thinks it's tack sharp...

With fashion: If it's underexposed, out of focus and grainy....it's called art otherwise it's labeled as porn :D

Some people today still think soft images are art

Me, I'd rather have a good sharp image as a starting point and make it soft in post process if thats what i really want...

But then again i also am reasonable, I know any f/1.4 lens isnt going to be tack sharp wide open, theres just no way it can be...So long as it looks nice, i dont care

Yeah! Love that 35 Distagon. One of my favorite lenses to use.

I scuffed mine up a bit on my trip out to the Salton Sea and to Hawaii last week. Just cosmetic scrapes, it happens (I scuffed my ZE 85 too. Whoops!)

The 35 is a great walkaround lens. Its compact, sharp as it gets, little distortion, and a near perfect general focal length. Most would be surprised by how well the focus confirmation works. I have very few misses with this lens. My only gripe is it's durability. These Zeiss lenses scuff very easily. They are built like tanks but are sensitive to normal wear. A piece of my hoods felt liner rubed off and the replacement hood is nearly $100.
