Selling some old stuff, so I had a lens photo shoot. These were my favorites:

You might want to give them a once over with a rocket blower before taking the photos next time. Not only does dusty gear make you look unprofessional as a seller, it also makes it hard to tell which bits are on the outside of the glass and which bits are inside.

Tactful. You have a wonderful way with words. Are you in management by any chance ?

:p

Unemployed actually, been flogging some gear on Ebay so did some photos for that recently. Spent a fair amount of time cleaning every single thing but it was worth it.

What he said is completely true though. I skip over possible purchases all of the time because of dusty shots. Honest, constructive criticism is a good quality of a manager.

Yeah, they are pretty dusty. It just made me laugh when I read your post, is all. :D

I hope you're not selling stuff because you're unemployed ? If so, I hope you find something soon, mate.

I've been unemployed for a while now (never been employed actually) since I left college, but I've got an interview soon so hopefully that goes well. I wasn't desperately in need of the money because I have some saved up, it was just stuff that I didn't use enough (or at all) to justify keeping.

Ok, point taken. Hitting them with direct flash really brought out every single spec of dust, didn't it? I've got to be more careful about that. (Or just list items with blurry, underlit cell phone photos like 95% of other listings.) :)

Flash seems to bring out every little imperfection unless you're really careful with the lighting, I ended up going with a huge reflector (one of those shiny things you stick behind a car windscreen to keep it cool) and a large window with the sun shining in. My camera was on a tripod so no need to worry about there not being enough light either. Do you mind if I ask how much you're after for the 28mm?

Yeah, those were shot with two bare 580EX's pointed straight at them, from maybe a 1 foot away (diffusers et al safely packed away in the closet). It's not an example of my best lighting setup, just a quick-n-dirty setup. I like using the sun to get those cool reflections off the front optic, but sadly these were taken when it was overcast.

Regarding price, I'll be happy with whatever the auction price ends at. All my auctioned items have ended up selling for fair prices, so I'm not too worried about it. I'm bundling it with the Canon hood, 3 filters, and original caps, packaging, and box, so those should bump the price a little higher too.

Could I have a link to the auction (in a PM if you like)?
