Ahhhh, I love these little camera toy fetish threads. Here is a pic of a nifty-fifty with the rare canon lens hood. Picked it up at Yodabashi camera in tokyo For $8. I need to get some of that nice graded paper and some better lights...

Ouch.
I’m not sure this is fair.

Like I’m not sending enough money to B+H’s house-of-pain.

These tools are beautiful.
Thanks for the ‘pin-ups’, Folks.

So lately I've developed what some may consider an odd hobby. I've been collecting pictures of peoples lenses from the internet. I even google the lenses, and save the pics. Then I organize them by lens focal length, and make in various files. I enjoy looking at them, and creating desktop backgrounds out of them. I swear I'm not insane...

Anyway, I thought it'd be cool if we had a thread where people could post pics of their lenses. Not sure if it's been done before, but here's my contribution!

My love, my baby;

17-40mm f/4L

You can't be insane, because I do it too. I started with the 200 f/1.8L, then moved to the 135, 85, and etc...

When is a Macro Lens not a Macro Lens?

My current background. I put these images together to make a perfect background.
Anyone know what lens it is?

What more could anyone want, a canon shootin' supermodel?

OK .... here's a really ugly contribution to the thread.

1) It was a quick & dirty grab of the lens, I'm still at the office and supposed to work
2) the previous owner did not treat the lens like I am going to, so it's beaten up a bit
3) but ... for that reason I was able to pick it up on eBay for less than a new 70-200/4.0 would have cost :D
4) And the images it takes are spotless.

Best regards,
Andy

Is the image quality alright with the t-con though? I know the 100-400L gets a weeeee bit soft at 400 so I'm guessing the t-con makes it a little worse. Just curious cause I've been interested in this lens for let's say, uh, the last 6 months.:p That 400 prime though... rrrrrrr both are calling my name.

I don't really know about the 100-400 with t-con, I only had a quick play and focussing was a nightmare (ok, you can leave it at infinity for distant stuff)! The 70-200 with t-con results can be seen in this thread, I'm quite happy with the results on static/slow moving subjects, but the jury is still out on fast moving subjects (AF speed / technique?). I'm fairly tempted with the 300 f/4 (plus 1.4 t-con - 420mm f5.6 IS!) over the 400, but not sure about AF speed again.
