Yeah, I hate when they stick switches and buttons right where you need to hold things.

The design is really poor on some lenses, the switches should be more recessed. It's sometimes enough to take the lens out of a bag to toggle some switches, or just rub against them when the camera hangs from the shoulder. I have too many puzzling moments and blurry pictures to risk this again, so I've taped over the AF/MF switch on all lenses. I leave the rest "unprotected" though as I use those now and then.

Oh, you're missing out if you haven't shot portraits with an 85mm lens on a crop sensor body. It's a bit long for half length or full length shots, but for head and shoulders, the 85mm f/1.8 is stonking (I've never lusted after the L, though it can produce some fantastic shots)

It definitely does! All that glass is gorgeous. I can't imagine what the 85L would look like. Of course, I can't really imagine a good use for the 85L on a "cropped sensor" camera, either. I guess the 50mm f/1.2 now takes its place...

The older lenses seemed to be a bit better in that regard as they had flush mounted switches. Just made it a real pain when you did want to change them. I guess I don't have too much of an issue because I generally opt to focus manually.

Well, that may not be any different from what a Canon tech would do. :)

not much really..It has been non stop raining for weeks now so cant even go out and use my new toys. all I really got is this
no USM added, and they are softer then with other cameras due to the heavy AA filter on my 1DII
these are f1.4
