I was messing around tonight with a laser level and a ceiling fan and came up with the photos below. I used a laser level in "line mode" and moved it back and forth at different speeds across the fan.

PictureNorthCarolina Gaaaaa! DOH!! Oops! 9,318 posts Likes: 248 Joined Apr 2006 Location: North Carolina More info | This is really quite interesting, but I have a question. If you were doing this by hand (the laser), how did you make the shapes and lines so perfectly equal and concentric? When people do light painting by hand, it usually looks quite messy, but your sections / strokes here are perfect. (Well done, by the way!) Website

Nov 24, 2010 07:41 | #10 I was using a laser level which also can produce a line or cross-shaped beam in addition to a single laser point. For these shots I set up the unit to produce a line and then swept it across the fan just once during the exposure. By varying the rate at which I swept the laser line across the fan, I could produce different patterns.
