A friend of mine (who has done some modelling for me) got married this weekend in Cancun. Here's some of the photos. These are pretty much SOOC since I just got back in town yesterday, but I wanted to share on something other than glamor (which you can actually see Christina at here : https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=745466)

Critique and comments as always welcomed.

This shot was crazy. Manual focus, 1:00 am in the morning, 24 1.4 @ 5.6, long exposure(5 Seconds), Iso 1600, and a flash at 1/1 (Canon 580 EX II). This shot is one I'm proud of.

Nice work. Personal favs are the first and second ones, as well as the last.

Also, did you use any strobes are for the most part, the light is just natural.

The lady 5th from the right in your group-in-the-water shot is disappearing...she is transparent.
Other than that these are lovely :-)

Awesome, I love the group shot. Why is there a shadow, did you use a backdrop? lol.

Edit, is that the movement from the long exposure??

For #3, because he used such a long exposure then flashed (Im assuming 2nd curtain) the blur is because the people moved, creating a partial exposure on the bg and then flashed over it.

Other than that I would love to see 1 with some PP. Its flat right now, but you can pretty easily make it pop more.

The second one grosses me out a little. If I am not mistaken, she is making reference to Sarah Silverman's cameo in Funny People with Adam Sandler.

3 is good. Technically, obviously, not perfect. But with the situation, I completly understand and think you carried it out the best someone could without setting up a whole studio like setup.

4. Would love some PP. It could bring it out a lot more.

5. Surprised this is SOOC. It looks great. I love the depth and the color.

6. Same as 1 and 4. It can be great.

As Red Tie mentioned above it's long exposure mixed with Flash. Flash stopped the action, but since I was bringing so much Ambience in to pick up a scene you picked up movement shadows.

I'm actually kinda proud of that shot. Imagine sitting on a sandy beach, manually focusing your camera via the distance scale on your lens (fortunately in this case it was a 24 1.4 which has a pretty simple hyperfocal distance) because you can see anything. Directing 10+ people to stand in the cold Carribean Sea at 1:00~2:00 a.m. in the morning. The first thing I told them is "I can't see S#it right now, so I'm gonna give you a three count. Make sure you look towards me".

Had my girlfriend/assistant hold up a 1/1 - 2/3 powered 580 ex II up behind me as high is she can (She's only 5'2" so it was probably only 6'1/2") and took 1 photo every 5 seconds. For a total of 3~4 photos before I told everyone to come up.

It was absolutely fun, and the results aren't perfect, far from it actually, and I know most people who see it outside of this forum will immediately see more what's wrong with it technically than what's right....but I'm happy it came out the way it did :)

Editing these photos next week, so you'll see more ump in them than.
