well, this is the best I've been able to do with this guy so far. He usually hides or flies away before I get close enough to shoot. Still not a great shot, still hoping/trying for a better one.

It's a nice shot, Kenny, but maybe you need a 400mm L?

Colors seem a bit washed out.

Thanks Hellashot, you're right, mostly due to the location setting. Just not much color there. Light wasn't great either. :( I tried boosting the saturation and it didn't do much to help.

I hope you don't mind, I tried a little PS tweak - darkened the gamma a little,
then added a high pass layer with the blend mode on color burn, about 15% opacity.

It can be difficult without the longer reach, but I think you did pretty well Ken. Background is a little busy/distracting, beautiful bird though. love the plumage on it.

Thanks guys appreciate the comments. One of these days I'm going to nail him :) and without the busy background. Tupe thanks for the effort, it is a bit better, but I really don't see a big improvement. I tried a few things like that without much luck so just left well-enough alone and will get a better shot to start from next time. :)

Good shot Kenny. The bird looks a little less in focus then the branches behind him. Did you have autofocus on? I find that I get sharper focus manually when in these type of conditions.
