Between the VC and non-VC version, I am seriously considering the non-VC version to go with my 7D. Before I place my order or buy one from POTN classifieds, I would like to know if having a non-VC is a concern for indoor pictures. I have a pretty stable hand and I can shoot handheld at up to 1/8 shutter speed no problem. With this said, will I be ok with the non-VC version for indoor shots?

I used to mostly shoot in Av mode, but, I have gone to full manual mode now, so, I can keep the shutter speed under control. Also, I think VC makes no sense for this focal range. What do you guys say?

You can shoot handheld at 1/8th? Amazing. Who needs VC.

LOL...I actually took a picture last night at 0.3" (I think) and the picture looked pretty good. :)

Yeah, if you're that steady, you are good to go. I'm getting ready to sell my 17-50, most underutilized lens I have.
