The title says it all. I am looking to add more lights and modifiers with grids for control to my 3 580EX2 with Pixel power packs. Since I already have PW TT1/TT5s/AC3, I am considering Alienbees. I will also buy the Cheetahstand Speed Pro brackets for my speedlights. I am wondering if I can use the PCB foldable modifiers with the Speed Pros. I don't want to end up with 2 set of modifiers, one for my speedlights and another for the Alienbees.

Please help.

OK. I just looked at my AB strip box. It is the new foldable types. This comes with a speedring insert, like any softbox speedring. Only thing is that foldable mechanism is attached to the speedring. But speedring inser tis removable just like any other speedring.

So I took it out and tried bracket from the QBox24". It is little big so no direct fit but if you handy you can drill some hole and make the QBox24" bracket work without any problems. I bet the SpeedPro with AB insert will work fine.

You can buy adapter for the PCB foldable softboxes that will work with the Bowen S mount on the Cheetah Speed Pro bracket.

I have some, just can't remember where I got them. B&H I think.

The foldable PCB speedrings have a different outer diameter for the adapter than a lot of other speedrings. That is the key.

Thanks for taking the time. I just placed order for AB setup, speed pro brackets, and bowens quick ring + sp studio inserts for balcar/white lightning/ab. I guessed I just have to figure out how to make it work either by modding or finding the right insert. Based on these info, I may have to return the quick rings.
