Hey, all.. I have a strange problem here.. I have had my 20d since May, and I have taken about 1000 shots with it since... I recently noticed that the pics have been a lot noisier in the past 2 weeks (all in the blue channel) and now I am seeing 2 blue pixels that show up in the bottom of the pics. These dead pixels show up in JPG mode only, not RAW mode, and they are there regardless of shutter time or ISO.. Is this a normal situation, or should I send the camera to Canon for some warranty work?

I don't think it's "normal" otherwise there would be many more reports such as this: https://photography-on-the.net …357&highlight=blue+pixels. There probably is an effect in your RAW files, but they are also always processed for viewing and I guess that processing masks the pixels instead of enhancing them. If the problem shows up in typical viewing conditions (i.e. not just when you zoom into the individual pixels) then yes you should contact Canon. Especially as you say you have increased noise. You're not having a heatwave are you? That would increase noise levels, mostly at higher ISO and longer exposures.

How are you processing your RAW files? You might get different results with different post-processors. Canon might be more inclined to tackle your problem if you can establish that the hot pixels show up when you process RAW as well.

Just an (un)educated guess here but having dealt with stuck pixels on a variety of my P&S cameras they're SIGNIFICANTLY exaggerated by the JPG encoding process. IT flares them out in a big way. In RAW you probably won't get this meaning the stuck pixel will truly be a single pixel instead of a blended cluster.

Of course I could be wrong. :)

Well, thanks for all the replies, I usually process the RAW files with Rawshooter Essentials, and sometimes with Photoshop.. I just recently noticed this, and with the camera only being 1000 shots old, I am hoping that more of them are not going to start popping up the more I use the camera. I have noticed that in RAW mode, it is only 1 single pixel, as opposed to the JPG mode where it is the exaggerated "blend" of pixels.. I have also found that it only happens on shots over 1 second, so all in all, I guess it's not that bad!

OK - so it's on long exposures (have you tried the noise-reduction function - CF2-1?). That's not uncommon, and a single hot pixel in RAW will "infect" the adjacent ones when converted to JPEG. This is because each pixel only records one of the three (R, B, G) colours, and a full-colour picture uses adjacent values to get truer colour.
