Some pictures from a local regional paintball tournament. After a busy 2010 season of shooting paintball all over the world I attended a local WCPPL regional paintball event to try out some new equipment and ideas for the 2011 season. These were taken at SC Village in Southern California

The first one, was that shot off a GoPro or similar camera? How did you trigger it? Was it off the bottom of a balloon?

The first image was taken from a Park Zone Radian electric glider (http://www.parkzone.com …fault.aspx?ProdID=PKZ4700 (external link)) with a Contour camera (http://contour.com/camera (external link)) mounted above the wings that was set up to take an image every three seconds. Since tournament paintball photography is so repetitive I always am trying to find different ways to photograph events. Also it lets me combine three activates I like photography, flying and paintball.

Here is another image where you can see the nose of the glider with the propeller folded

Very cool. Have you ever tried to stick the contour onto a RC helicopter to have more control over the image? Or do you (like me) enjoy doing pretend strafing runs with the glider?

To get the image with the guy getting hit in the head are you just snapping away and getting lucky with that shot? Also how many shots are you taking at these event?

Don't mean to talk for Gary on this one, but what I do is look for certain cues like streams of paint or someone that made an unnoticed move and is about to shoot another guy. Then I will camp on the one about to get shot and get ready to shoot. For me at least it is tough to get just impact without the flinch unless I machine gun a few images in a row.

Thanks ajaffe but what i was thinking was that he is just sitting on a guy machine gunning it until he gets the shot. Is this how you have to get it or do you just get lucky some times?
