Running CS5 Bridge (4.0.3.9) on Win XPPro. When I select a few files, right click, choose Move to, select a folder, click ok, and Bridge crashes and shuts down. The files get moved to the new folder, but it crashes whether I use that method, drag & drop, or use File>Move to. Does this work for anyone else?

Thanks.

I don't have CS5 and I typically do that type of thing in Lightroom, but just something to try: What happens if you slelect the images and then rather than right-click the images you right click on the target folder? Does it have an option to move the files into that folder?

It selects the folder, but de-selects the files.

Thanks Martin for taking a couple of minutes to check it. Is it just you and me with CS5?

I checked on the Adobe forum and found a few things to try.

Does it happen when you simply drag the files? When moving files in Bridge I always drag and drop. Never crashes.

I don't know how these things are OS-dependent and how may are PS dependedt. For example, how does the Cache interact with moving folders and files? If that could be a cause of problems you could try purging the Cache and see if that frees something up?

It doesn't matter whether I drag & drop, right click>move to, or File>Move to.

It didn't help purging the cache.

I've opened a ticket with Adobe on the issue. I found the same issue with an earlier version of CS5 Bridge and was supposed to be fixed, but evidently it didn't make the 4.0.3.9 update. According to a response - disabling the startup scripts and then terminating a certain process would isolate it. I tried it and it still did. Guess I'll have to wait for Adobe.

Thanks.

get the files where you want them using a regular file explorer. edit them using bridge/photoshop. simples.

it does illustrate just how badly written adobe software is, that it can crash on such a trivial operation.

While there are certain instances I do that, it'd be in pita to do it all the time. I don't use the Move option often, but would like it to work.

Could someone with CS5 check if you have the following file?

\Documents and Settings\[User name]\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5 \Adobe Bridge CS5 Settings\Adobe Bridge CS5 Prefs.psp

The only ....Prefs.psp I can find is under Adobe Photoshop CS5 folder.

Thanks.
