Hello everybody!
I'm finally buying my first DSLR (30D) and need some lenses to go with (d'uh!).
Being the cheap-ass student I am, I don't have hundreds of euro's to spend on lenses. I've been photographing with my mom's old Nikon SLR and it was a lot of fun, now I want to see if I really want to push through with this.
For the moment I'm thinking about two lenses:
- A 50mm prime lens (or get a 35mm because I'm shooting on a crop?)
- A low-focal length zoom lens (from 15-18mm to 50-55mm)
I'm not a big fan of 'around-the-house' photo's or portrait photo's in general, save for candid shots. I mainly like trying to capture a nice scenery (forest/mountains etc.), cities at night (tryin' to be original here :rolleyes
and macro.
Let's say I have only 500 dollars/euros to spend, what two lenses should I get? I'm totally fine with buying second-hand lenses (the Netherlands being a small country I can always test the lens out by picking it up).
Get a fifty-nifty (80€) and blow the rest of the money on a Tamron 17-50 (non-VC, I heard the VC version is really bad?), or should I get a 50mm 1.4 Sigma/Canon (or a 35mm f/2) and get a Sigma 18-50 f/2.8-4.5?
I'm hearing mixed things about the fifto-nifto, sometimes that it's taking great pictures, but the build is crap; sometimes I hear people who swear by it and others who say it's a POS all-together?
The nicest option at the moment seems to be to get a fifty-nifty and Tamron 17-50 (non-VC) and buy food from the remaining 150€, which is kinda important too, haha!
Tl;dr: Spend half of the money on a prime, the other on a zoom lens or get a fifty-nifty and spend remaining 400 on a better zoom.
Regards
