My Nephew was in town for his sisters graduation from Cal Berkeley last May.
I asked him if he liked to do any night photography, and he told me that he has never gotten any decent results. So I promised him if he went shooting with me, I could guarantee that he would get better results. Yeah, bold statement. I know.

Here's what I shot that night.
The San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge as seen from the Embarcadero in SF.

As for my Nephew, his image did in fact turn out much better than anything he had tried in the past.
Now we just need to work on his composition. :p

That's one of the best I've seen of the Bay Bridge. Hope your nephew did well, too.

I really like this, the foreground and the bridge itself of course, great composition and overall feel.

:p I did say that we needed to work on his composition. He did send it to me and even gave me permission to post it. Let me dig it up, and I'll post it too.

Ah; I didn't see that at the bottom and just kidding of course. I am sure you helped him a great deal. I love the way you composed your image with those posts in the foreground.

Okay. Here is Alex' shot. Before I took him night shooting, he had been using high iso and trying to hand hold his camera.
I loaned him my sturdy tripod, and I used the lightweight one. I did tell him to turn off his IS, but not sure if he did or not. That could explain the bit of fuzziness in his image.

Also, for the sake of comparison (and for the fun of it) here is another Bay Bridge shot I did, and his in comparison.
Mine from last year.....

wow, the view for the last few has to be somewhere on treasure island right? I like the whole series. Really like the tone of el numero uno.

Thanks. :)

Yes, the last couple are actually from Yerba Buena Island. Treasure Island is the man-made flat part that used to belong to the Navy. Yerba Buena is owned by The Coast Guard.
