Night Concert Pano with 50mm f/1.8

This is a Portuguese Rock Band named Xutos & Pontapés (roughly translates to Kicks and Passes in an analogy to children soccer) that goes over 20 years still atracting all the old and young. They are wonderful. Very powerful.

The pano was done with 4 frames taken with the 50mm f/1.8 @1.8 all in manual (RAW; WB, focus, exposure: 1/80 s @ 1.8; ISO 800)

Nice shot, lining up all those moving people had to be fun.

Actualy, PhotoStitch did a good approach. I only corrected it slightly.

I took many samples before the sequence that ended up being stitched, and tried to reach for the highest shutter speed possible being very concentrated to be steady while not taking more than one second bettween frames...

All the measuring of light took me some time, though.

Excellent pano is right, I'm very surprised you were able to do it with all those people. Glad to see it can be done, I would have wrote that off myself thinking impossible. Good work!

Where is the center of attention? As a pan, it's impressive, but what is the subject? technically it's pretty good.

I didn't think the pano would be so easy to stitch at home when I took the photos. Other then the concern fort he fully manual approach and quick / steady shooting I didn't have much work realy.

I had some issues with the red flag in the center but nothing much. the poles were a big help for the swift action/ framming and also for the stitching.

For me this pano was an attempt to record the hole image my eyes could see. The athmosphere and imense power the crowd gave to the show.

one clear center of attention is the stage and the media boards were the lead singer can be seen. another at the midle, is the red fag that gives a sense of movement and profiting from it's color and the light on the crowd draws attention to the center.
To the left the only intention was to show the extension of the audience, frammed by the improvised commercial tents (pavilions?) at the back.

spent a few minutes trying to find the seams.. but if it takes that long.. it is good enough not to spend more time looking!!

guess I have to start using the 50 for shots like this instead of fighting with the kit lens!!

As I told before , the planning took a while and the poles helped much.

Yes, defenitively. The nifty fifty is my main lens in its focal range and specialy for difficult lighting.

Neat Image was also a big help to get rid of the ISO 800 noise.
