OK, here is my second post of a Florida landscape. My first one did not get many positive comments and that's ok. I need the critique to get better. I call this one 'The Fishing Shack'. I cropped it to look like a pano, but it's really one shot. We don't have much in the way of dramatic geography down here, but for a Florida boy, this is pretty much what heaven looks like. 5DMK2, 70-200L IS 2

This one, In my opinion is much more interesting than your first post. Colors are good.

Nice warm looking relaxed place.

I could live in that house if it was on the beach!

The right side feels a bit empty, but I love the color, I like the placement of the horizon and the subject is interesting.

I like it a lot, great colours, makes me want to be there! but I think if you placed the shack further to the right it might be even better :)

Nice! Following the treetops from left to right and down to the brush suggests an S-curve. Also, the arc of the treetops leads the eye right to the shack. Dwelling there for a while, the eye starts to find all sorts of interesting detail -- two different roofing materials, the porch on the right, the lean-to on stilts on the left, the guy ropes (perhaps that's a tarp on the roof?), etc. Nice light, and the foreground shadow also leads the eye into the subject. Well done!

I know exactly what you mean, I'm from Florida too (unfortunately I moved here before I had a camera to take pictures of New England!)

I like this picture though, I can't really say why, it's just cool.

Kodak Easyshare C643, not the best, but it does what I need :)
I'm 15, but I love photography, and I'd love to get a nice camera someday.

The subject is great for a panorama, but in this case the house is too centered. The 'rule of thirds' would work well here.

I know, Photoguy, it bothered me too. Unfortunately, because this is just a single shot cropped to a pano size, I was unable to make the thirds rule happen without messing up the cool shape of the palms on the left.

Photoguy6405 makes a good point here, but I think this image has enough going for it that you can allow some leeway with regard to the rules here. (Personally, I think that the "zeroth" rule of photography is, "Don't be afraid to break the rules."!) In fact, you have the horizon line perfectly positioned in accordance with the RoT.

Photoguy6405's comment caused me to take another look at the picture, though. There is a distant structure (tower, post, ???) visible not too far from the right edge. If you crop the image right at that point I think it strengthens the image and has the added benefit of moving the building off center just a bit.

Just a thought, for whatever it's worth. :)

Excellent suggestion, and I completely agree. It does not have to be exactly at the 1/3 line... off-set just a bit would help considerably.

Thanks Rimmer & Photoguy. That post is a channel marker out in the Gulf of Mexico. I agree that a crop right there might look good.
