Dell U2311H 23 inch e-IPS panel is on sale at Dell.com

http://accessories.us.dell.com …e_irrank=1&~ck=dellSearch (external link)

One day sale. Not the best deal. Lowest price is around $230 + free shipping. Dell does charge sales tax for Arizona. Not sure about other states.

22" dell e-IPS panel was on sale for just less than $200, but I read in some reviews that 23" version has slightly shorter lag time and better backlit uniformity.

For comparison, HP's 24 inch ZR24W is on sale for $380-400. This is not bad.

I saw that price and signed up to get the small business news and deals (the one that after you sign up you get a 20% off coupon code in your e-mail; https://dell.p.delivery.net …/signup.asp?~ck=em&~ck=pn (external link)). I tried to put it in and it said my code had already been used once, which is odd, because it's a code specific to you and I had just received it 20 seconds prior.

Anyway, I called up Dell (indicating in the phone menu that I was purchasing it for a business) and explained what I was trying to do. The phone rep ended up giving it to me for $237.94, tax and delivery included. I'm a happy camper.

Well this sucks

I ordered the monitor about 6 hours ago and paid $298.96.

Then I just read what dave_p did. So I set it up to where I receive small business news, and to receive the 20% discount.

So I call up dell and the rep said I can't apply the 20% code since the order has already been placed. So I say that I would like to cancel my order.

They transferred my call to another rep so I could cancel my order but they transferred me to the wrong dept, so I had to be transferred again.

Once I talked to the person I needed to talk to they said I can't cancel in the current "stage" the monitor is in. I asked what stage it is in and I didn't get a direct answer. I said it has not shipped yet. It's not scheduled to be shipped until around the 9th of December because it needed to be manufactured. I asked how can it be in a stage where I can't cancel when the monitor has not even been built yet? They just said I would need to return it once I receive it.

So I asked, if I return it, will I need to pay a fee? The guy I was talking to said he didn't know and that he would need to put me on hold while he asked his supervisor. At that point I just hung up.

Chances are I would have to pay for something. But even if I didn't it would be too much of a hassle to return, and re-order, and wait even longer. Plus if they were not running another special, with my 20% code I would only save as much as I originally was.

Too bad I purchased the monitor before dave_p posted his deal.

I just had the idea to call up and complain about not being able to cancel an order that has not even been manufactured. One of the outsourced reps I already talked to answered so I just hung up again. I guess I will email a complaint.

I am disappointed I could not save more money. But I am mad I can't cancel an order that has not been completed... that is why I want to complain.

Sorry to hear that. Keep after them.

I just found this on the Dell site "Canceling an Order (external link)."

We begin processing your order immediately upon submission, so once your order enters into production, it may be too late to cancel......If your order is listed as In Production or Shipped, we will not be able to cancel it. However, after you receive delivery of your order, you still have the option to return it subject to Dell™ Return Policy (external link).

So I viewed the return policy and as I expected I would need to pay for shipping, and I might get tagged for a restocking fee.

Personally I think it's crummy that I am not allowed to cancel a regular (non custom) order that is in "production". But since I was told that on the phone, and it is actually specified on their site, I am just going to forget it and move on.

Well I am getting the monitor I wanted in the price range I was willing to pay so once it gets here I am sure I will enjoy it. My plan is to buy a 2nd monitor for a duel set-up when I have more money. Now that I know I might be able to stack a coupon with a promotion I will call next time to place my order.

There is a new U2311H on ebay for $250 w/ free shipping and no tax, but I did not want to buy it in case of too many dead pixels. It's easier to deal with Dell if there is any issue. It's not too bad to get a new monitor for $260 when the refurb is going for $250 on the Dell outlet store.

I am still debating on the dual monitor thing. Not sure how well they can be "matched" even with calibration. Anyway, I will consider it if it ever gets down to $200 range.

I received a tracking # a few days ago from Dell and I received the monitor today. When I ordered it said it wouldn't ship until the 9th. So I was surprised when I got the email.

This is a beast compared to my old Dell 19 inch. Very bright too. I have the brightness set to 15 and even that seems too bright for me. Works perfectly. Now I need to get a spyder3 elite and I will be set.

For $300 this seems to be a pretty good monitor.

Whoa! How long did it take your eyes to get used to it?

After my last post I played with LR3 and CS5 and WOW. Totally worth it. After about 25 minutes I couldn't help but wonder what my images would look like on the 30".

Got the Dell U2311H. It was shipped on black Friday and I received it pretty quickly. Set to ~25% brightness and warm color temperature. Color appears to be good. Nice monitor.
