Hi anyone know why the XXD bodys don't have the viewfinder sensors, just like XXXD ? for example the t2i have them and the 60D doesnt.
Thanks.

The rear LCD on the XXD cameras goes black as soon as the shutter button is pressed to the halfway point. John

Nov 26, 2010 14:21 | #3 uhmm that could be the reason, well maybe i find this kinda weird (i'm jumping from sony) on there even the A900 that has a top LCD have those sensors. When i have to use a friends XS i find very annoying that when i'm not pressing the shutter have the light of the LCD glowing from the buttom. Maybe i would need to get used to.. i'm thinking on getting a 60D Carlos

It is only on (in the field) when I am reviewing photos. I am not sure under what circumstances it is always on? Will | WilliamLiuPhotography.com

Nov 26, 2010 14:34 | #6 Well is ON to make the adjustments, but once you place your eye to the vf all the light go off. (on sony for example also those sensors can be configured to start AF, that could be called a prefocusing stage) ofcourse if the camera is not operated in a certain time it will go to a standby mode, also i always see the final pic (histogram is what i'm looking ) and to check focus accuracy after the shot. Nov 26, 2010 14:45 | #8 Flash compensation for example cant be done in the top LCD (well at least not on the 60D) but again maybe this could be just because i was used to how (usefull for me) are those sensors, i'm not saying that i cant get used to how the XXD handles this, i guess is a matter of time only, or maybe because i have never use a camera with top LCD as my daily camera. Do you really mean DISPLAYS instead of "sensors"? There's no such thing as a "viewfinder sensor" in any camera I have seen. Skip Douglas

Fair enough, but if I have to constantly change auto exposure compensation, why not just throw the sucker into manual? Will | WilliamLiuPhotography.com

Nov 26, 2010 15:04 | #12 I use the camera in manual. But for example if your just composing (not having to keep the shutter button pressed) the LCD will be always on. if its off and you want to review in a quick way (just releasing your eye) what all other adjustmens have been done from the previous shot (, you can't. I don't know if you have ever used those sensors but bealive me those are very usefull if you are used to make everything in the rear lcd instead of the top LCD. (because i have never had as my daily camera one with it) maybe this will go to the trash once i have one lol. but i was wondering why.. thats all. i'm not bashing/complaining or something like that. As soon as you touch the button to focus or meter then the LCD is darkened anyway. There's no reason to put the camera to your face unless you plan to focus, meter or shoot, is there? Taylor

I rarely use the back LCD for anything. Will | WilliamLiuPhotography.com

Nov 26, 2010 15:11 | #15 Well yeah start focusing is kinda cool, but annoying more than cool hahah. because if you have your camera hanging those sensors start working and you lens is focusing in nowhere lol (i had that turned off) Carlos
