Is there a way of having a longer exposure than the 30 second one in TV mode?

NOPE! To get an exposure longer than 30 seconds on the XT, you must use Manual mode and bulb.

why would you want a longer shutter speed than 30 sec....
thats soooooo long.

i mean, even at night, 30 seconds would make the pic really bright.

Well I saw a nice 6 hour one, from the desert, that showed the light from the stars shifting. That was pretty cool.

The guy asked how to do something and you asked him why he wants to do it. He might have a good reason. Does he have to explain it to you?

You might find it something you don't want. He might want it.

Don't take my response the wrong way. I just feel that someone has a right to ask a question and get an answer without explaining his motives.

As stated before, in modes other than M, 30 seconds. In Manual, using bulb, as long as you need it -- and you don't have to tell me why.

Yes, a shutter speed. It's called bulb because in the olden days when cameras were made of brick and straw, to keep the shutter open for an extended period, you squeezed a bulb.
If you spin the wheel to lengthen your shutter speeds in other modes you'll see it stops at 30 seconds. If you do it in M, you'll see it goes one more click to bulb.
For more about this, see page 93 of the XT manual -- Bulb Exposures.
