Canon S2 and G6

Would anyone here care to post side by side comparison pictures with the S2 and G6. I really like the S2 since it will take standard alkalines as well as rechargables, but I'm guesing the G6 takes better pictues. One more thing; does anyone have more information about the upcoming Canon A620. Should A620 images be equal to or better than the S2 and G6?

The G6 shoots tack-sharp photos, has RAW format, uses CF cards, has an IR remote control, and a nicer manual focusing control. The S2 has that long zoom, some special effects, electronic view finder, takes superb video, and has image stabilization. The G6 has a faster lens, but the S2 has a faster processor. I've got them both, and just pick whichever one suits the particular situation I'm in. The S2 will never have the photo quality of the G6, but the S2 can grab photos that the G6 can't. That's about it. They're not interchangeable, and therefore really aren't comparable (except in price). Think about which one fits your needs better (the most often). I had the G6 first, and if I could only pick one, for me it would be the G6.

Remember you're out about another $50+ for the Maha C204w charger and a few sets of 2500mAh batteries for the S2, while an extra G6 battery is about $15. Pro 1's are cheap now, too, just to throw in another choice.

You can start by going to www.steves-digicams.com and looking at the reviews. For each camera that is reviewed he take pictures, there are pictures that he always takes (resturant, beach, etc), and that you can use for comparison. I would recommend you look at the Pro1 also, it has photo quality equall or superior to the G6 and a 6x zoom that would give a good range. The video from the Pro1 is awesome also. But in the end you need to get your hands on these things and try them out.

When I looked at cameras I already had an SD card and then I bought a CF card. I could then look at the camera and take the pictures home to analyse. In the end, I got the 350D, but the Pro1 takes amazing pictures. In fact I liked those pictures better than the nikon D70.
