Hi,

As a long time Apple sceptic, I just got an iPad to evaluate for a project at work and I am amazed to say I love the thing! Work requirements aside, what made it for me was the apps so I'd be interested to learn from other iPad users what are the best apps that they have found. Here's mine so far:

Eyewitness - photo journalism from a UK newspaper - great pics and tips from the pros (free)

PCalc Lite - I was suprised it had no calculator. Now it has :) (free)

Angry Birds - silly, addictive game (free)

TeamViewer - remote control tool to connect to your desktop/laptop (free)

Flipboard - one view on you social networks/news (free)

FileBrowser - excelently implemented tool to browse file shares on other machines ($2.99)

VLC - now you can play avi's without converting :) (free)

AirVideo - stream movies direct from your desktop/laptop (free)

Epicurious - great recipe app (free)

FlickStackrXP - great tool for browsing Flickr (free - but may buy the full version)

QuickOffice - App or viewing and creating docs and xls plus reading ppt and pdf and integrated to Google docs, dropbox, box and mobileme ($9.99)

Evernote - personal information organiser (free)

Filter storm does it as far as photography is concerned

Its not what you do it with, its what you do with it, that counts.

I haven't been that impressed with the available apps, but here are the ones I've been happy with and use on a regular basis:

Penultimate - the best notebook app currently available. All are pretty poor because of limitations of the iPad, even using a capacitive pen.

Things - a great to-do list app. The more I use it, the more I like it.

Citrix - my iPad wouldn't be that useful at work without it.

PCalc Lite - calculator

WeatherEye HD - weather

Bloomberg - stocks

iTeleport - remote access to my home PC

AirVideoFree - streaming movies to my iPad over WiFi

Portfolio - decent image portfolio app

Dropbox

A few I use on occassion:

Dictionary

Wikipanion

I also have Find iPhone installed (why not, it's free)

Ones that have promise but are too buggy:

Atomic Web - has much better features than Safari, but buggy. I like it for Dropbox integration.

QuickOffice - no Excel charts is also a big negative

I also have DocsToGo, which I don't like at all and don't use because of the interface, but at least it's not full of bugs like QuickOffice
