What exactly does CDI mean?
It means awesome photography! 
Haha seriously though it doesn't really have a meaning anymore. It used to be an acronym for an older business.

Not really. You have your own idea of what you want in a logo, and the designer helps you get there. If a designer says you only get one shot at it, walk away and find someone else.
