I don't like them at all. I currently have a contest going at 48hourslogo.com. In less than 24 hours I have had 27 submissions. Not too shabby.

Canon 5d MKII, 50D, 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L IS II, 50mm 1.4, 580 EXII, 430 EX.

I think I should go that route, I don't think there is anything wrong with the name if I can get the right look.

28 unique ideas is better than 2......

By the way, the second design was from someone I was thinking of hiring......cost was 250.

@slewi......Post your end logo...curious to see what they came up with!

EDIT: Maybe it's just the name. Digital Edge just doesn't say 'portrait photography'.

Personally, I think the names fine. Its just not being used in an appropriate manner in conjunction with the logo.

A good graphic designer would be able to use the business name "We take crappy photos" and make it looks beautiful for a logo...:p

I agree. He just needs to find the right design.

"Digital Edge Photography" sounds a helluva lot better than the cliche "Memories by [Insert name here]" type names I see all over the place. At least the former is thinking slightly out of the box.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

First revision of a text logo. I think i want to pull in the word PHOTOGRAPHY so it doesn't extend to the right so much. Comments much appreciated.

Is this just some fun you're making up a logo for or an actual business? I don't see a website listed in your signature or your profile. I don't like seeing "digital" in names of a photography company. To me seeing "digital" in a product or company cheapens my impression. Be a photographer, who care which medium you use to get your results?

Personally, I like the "second round" better.

I guess so, but you are still at the mercy of one persons vision.

Exactly! But you are also at the hands of a designers vision. As photographers, we pride ourselves on delivering to our clients the pictures they invisioned. Clients book us based on previous work of ours they have seen, but we also take the time to get to kknow them a little to bring there personality into the end product.
A good designer, which you have picked based on their portfolio, will ask questions, look at your work and come up with brand to fit your needs.
Remember, a logo is only part of a brand. It needs to be able to span different products, business cards, letterhead, etc... And it should be somewhat timeless.
Think of the designer as you would have your clients think of you and you will see the value in what they do.

Both the logo's were done by people that do graphic design. Their past work looked decent to me.

In all honesty, "Digital Edge" rolls off the tongue nicely, and has a certain appeal (I think) because of the word 'Edge", which gives it some tension and suspense.

However, "Digital" can also be slightly perjorative. It can impart a negative feeling to things, like a certain 'coldness'.

Maybe combine 'Edge' with some other word other than digital. Like "Horizon's Edge", or "Visions Edge"........maybe even "Razor's Edge"...:D

Just thinking out loud.

It's tough coming up with a cool name...

Name is non-negotiable....domain purchased, etc. Just have to fine tune the logo, or by the comments here start over!

Appreciate everyone's continued comments.
