Not exact scientific test, but because I took some moon shots with my new 70-200 f2.8 IS MkII lens, decided to compare:

-Aperture 3.1 used for PP
-Exact same image used for upload, just to different host site
-uploaded with std stock Apple Aperture Facebook uploader and Aperture Picasa 3rd party uploader (sized to 720 pix to match FB, used quality of 10 outta 12)

without "cheating" and looking at image source, which side is Picasa and which is facebook?

Image 1348 280mm (200mm + 1.4TC used), 1a vs 1b

I have some other thoughts, but will add later...also will compare Picasa to flickr, with some other more wider color range stuff.

I don't know, but facebook and picasa both like to ruin images big time.

mtbdudex, quick question. not mean to hijack. What color profile are you using? I try to edit in proPhoto and convert to sRGB then upload to Facebook. I noticed the color become really off.. like no color profile then I try download the uploaded file and view on my PC. I got the color back

Umm...I seriously don't see any difference and so this exercise is lost on me. I would blame my color vision but the moon is pretty monochrome. I'm either blind or this monitor is terrible!

Kind of hard to compare when they aren't side by side and aren't the same size. . . This exercise is a fail.

I think thats the point, there isn't much of a difference.

I haven't used either Facebook or Picasa, but this seems to be a major difference between the two. It's from the Picasa terms of service:

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.

I was thinking of trying Picasa until I read that. I guess I could be wrong, but it seems that you're giving away your photos when you upload them to Picasa.
