1). I just installed LR3 onto a second computer. How do you manage sharing the catalogue etc. between your desktop and laptop?

2). I seem to have lost the ability to sort by star or flag rating. It's not showing up on the toolbar. Can anybody help me resetting it or adding it back?

Geno, a couple options. First, you should know that Lightroom is not designed to be "shared" over a network. So to share it between two computers, you have to transfer the catalog settings. One way to do this is to have your catalog on an external drive that is not a "network drive" and move the drive between computers. Or, you can save your metadata to a "sidecar" xmp file and then read the metadata on the other computer. The problem with this approach is that not everything translates over, Collections don't and I don't think flags do either. So, what I'd suggest is copying over your catalog folder when you are ready to switch and then copying back. It's a hassle, but I don't know how else to get all the functions/settings properly moved.

It looks like that's what I'm going to be doing.

Still can't figure out why the sort by rating/flag bar vanished though. I have it back but it's at the top of the images as opposed to the bottom.

Huh -- likely your view options are different -- poke around the Vew menu and choose View Options then poke around there. Also there are Toolbar options.

If you open Help and search for "view ratings" there is a section with that title (you may need to click a few times) and they lay out some alternatives there).
