My first post here though I've been lurking for a couple of months. I'm definitely an hobbyist but enjoy photography and have been improving over the past couple of years.

Though I really like these photos, something seems off to me. The first seems to be over exposed and the color of the greens bothers me. Taken with a 7D and Canon 100-400 L with a polarizer.

The second one I like but again, something seems off. Taken with a 7D and a Tamron 28-70 2.8.

Comments and critiques? Thanks for looking.

Both great shots, however, the second looks like oversaturation artefacts have affected the reflection.

Thanks for the comments. I don't believe either of those have any post processing. Typically the only thing I do is exposure during raw processing. What would cause the over saturation?

These are really pretty nice shots. If you want some nitpicks, the first one could be improved by giving the elk some more room on the right side of the photo. Also it appears you were shooting somewhat into the sun. If it would have been possible (and I know it usually isn't) to go around and shoot them with the sun at your back, they would not seem so dark relative to the scene.

The second on is very nice, but the centered horizon is usually less appealing than moving it up or down to one of the rule of thirds lines.

Thanks again. Framing is definitely one of the things I need to pay attention to. I even have the grid enabled and don't always think about it.

You're right about the sun. The elk are relatively used to people but the rules of the park state to stay out of the fields and keep your distance. You're supposed to stay 50 yards away but they approach you. I even have a picture of one licking my tripod!

On the 1st pic:

It could have been a better shot if the animals did not "overlap" (not sure if thats the right word).

But I can understand how hard it would be to take these kind of shots. It probably takes loads of practice and patience to get the right wildlife shots.

in the first your subject is underexposed (the elk I assume), as has been pointed out it looks like you were shooting into the sun. Not a keeper for me.....

the second is over processed you can see the added contrast inthe water reflection.
