I find that when I upload to the web my images go darker than they appear on my monitor, Im using an I-mac 10.6osx snow leopard, processing in CS4, Adobe RGB calibrated with spyder pro. I've tried converting to Srgb but they seem to go even darker! Anyone help?

Just a guess -- is it possible your browser is not recognizing the color profile of the image?

What browser are you using? I know there is a plug-in for Firefox that enables color management. (By the way, the plug-in is called "Color Management".) You might give that a try and see if it makes a difference.

Actually, the recent Firefoxes have colour-management turned on by default, as long as the ICC profile is embedded in the images.

If you're on a Mac, you are probably using Safari which is color managed from at least Vs. 4, so no need for FF. I use Safari For Windows and my images are slightly darker but not as much so as they were in Internet Explorer.

Safari is only color managed if the image has an embedded profile.

What gamma is the display set to?
What settings in PSCS4?

If the exported image has an embedded profile, it should look about identical in Safari and PSCS4.
If you see a difference between an AdobeRGB and an sRGB image in Safari, you're not embedding the profile.

In the context of web browsers being color managed, we're usually talking about one of the common color space profiles like sRGB, Adobe RGB, or ProPhoto RGB. When uploading photos to the web, sRGB is the safest profile to use.
