Came across this thread and checked out the link on ebay but didn't see of any for the 60D. Anyone know if they make one for it? Trying to find an affordable flash like that so I can also still get a battery grip.

Found out there are compatible ones for the 60D...answered my own question. Looks like I'll be ordering this pretty soon and I can still a battery grip woo! Thanks again for the tip on an affordable flash.

Seems kind of sketchy the way they list different versions for just a couple different camera bodies. So what if your body isn't listed there? What if you change bodies, or want to sell it?

I think the Yongnuo ETTL flashes work fine for crop models but I don't know why some models are not listed. If I ever went full frame and my YN465 did not work in ETTL mode then it would be a manual flash - no big loss because they are so cheap. In fact, during this past year I've used the YN-465 more as a manual flash off camera than having it in ETTL mode.

It does seem too good to be true but it is true. I've been using Yongnuo flashes for over a year - reliable and cheap. You can start with the basic flash YN-465 - works with the camera menu. ETTL, full manual controls, $65 or go to an advanced flash with more features like the YN-468

Bottom line: knock-off "imitation" counterfeit flashes work but be aware: You are exporting American jobs to China and hurting the US economy.
wait a minute ... are there any flashes manufactured in the US? ... any cameras?

I'm Canadian anyway, so the US economy thing really not my issue ;) I was about to buy it last night, but my gf told me to wait for Christmas... apparently a Metz flash is in my stocking :D

Weird. I can't find it at Amazon, B&H or Adorama. Can you post a link?

There do seem to be a lot of sellers on EBay, I used hkyongnuophotoequipment since I figured they were the manufacturer.

If I order the RF 602 trigger I'll get it from Amazon to make sure it arrives in time. Amazon is carrying Yongnuo flashes as well, albeit the are at a slightly higher price than direct from Honk Kong.

Is it ok to come into this thread and ask some of the same types of "noob" questions about a flash setup but are different than the Ops questions, or should I start my own thread? I don't want to hijack with different questions, but I always get flamed when starting similar threads with different questions, some folks fire off to use "search"...my questions aren't really searchable.

Just ask your question already. Maybe consider using punctuation though.

Um not so much - all Canon gear is made in Japan, Taiwan and China... Depending on the part, And those Chinese flashes aren't counterfeit anyway - just cheaper for various reasons (quality of parts, quality control, reliability, profit margins, etc)

Thanks. But I'm still curious about your question. I pretty much know nothing about flashes. Just lots about goofing.

Thats pretty obvious. I decided to ask my question outside of this thread, so I didn't hijack it, so your curiosity is going to be tested.

A week old thread but I will chime in. I had a canon 430EX flash and a Sigma flash (can't remember which one but it was the one comparable to the canon 580ex). Once I got a YN 465 I sold both of those and stuck with it. Stupidly easy to use and no frills. I REALLY liked that 430EX flash but I had no problem giving it up once I used the YN.

Ain't nothin but a thing.

the Yongnuo YN465 is just a simple ETTL flash with manual controls but the price is right
