the actual shot isn't the greatest, but I think it fits the theme: Picked up the shell in Hawaii a few years back and ran it through my rock saw. turned out pretty decent for a hand held cut.

Well, this week's challenge has been very interesting and I had to think a lot to come up with an idea, which is why I love this thread. After seeing all pictures I have to go with anothernewb. I like the lighting and the reflection a lot.

A very "challenging" challenge - thanks soliwit. My first thought was to do a close-up of a sunflower - the seeds grow in such a magnificent symmetrical pattern - but alas, no sunflowers in PA in December.

My vote also goes to anothernewb. I agree with cubatahavana - I liked the lighting.

All I want is just a little more than I'll ever have.

Gear: I started out with nothing, and have most of it left!

I gotta hand mine to soliwit - the ribcage is pretty macabre, but the symmetry is certainly there.

any idea what it used to be? Scale's a little hard to judge. I wanna say some sort of small animal, but the rib bones are triangular which is usually more like cows or horses.

My votes for cabatahavana. I can't put my finger on it, but his picture just appeals to me the most.

My vote would have gone to enrigonz, but sadly enough it was taken on the 24th of november and thus not within the timeframe of the challenge, sorry!!!
So my other fav was cabatahavana, same thing as edmyloo, I can not really put my finger on it, but it is a very appealing photo, and it is funny, I mean, DUDE flipflops in the snow, hahahaaa *shudder*
The ribcage is of a small deer, a youngster, not a baby though, already noticed some time ago there was quite some vulture activity down the hill and so I went out to see what it was that they came looking for, in my flickr you can see a vulture that was pretty close to the house in a tree.
They picked it pretty much clean!
Not being from this area originally I sometimes still so feel like I am in this super exotic country now with all these unfamiliar 'monsters' around hahahaaaa

Living in Austria, I am so glad that there is stuff like Gimp out there...

Thanks all for the praise. Been out of touch this weekend due to a slight accumulation of snow down at my buddy's place in Minneapolis. we got 14" at his front door. with the drifting the only thing visible of my truck was from the windshield wipers and up. the entire body was buried in the snow.
