A frozen lake this morning has reduced his fishing options a thousand fold, so i hedged my bets as he would land on one of several perchs over the small stream that exits the lake, after about an hour he duly obliged. (external link)
1D3, EF400 + 1.4 convertor, ISO 1600, F8, 1/1000, flash @ -1 2/3rds.

Awesome shots ,how come we dont have these beautifully colored Kingfishers here in the states.

Hi WesternGuy, thanks for the nice comment.This one is a "Common Kingfisher" [Alcedo atthis].Its the only one we have in the UK, its also found in europe and asia.
