I posted this picture to my Facebook and had a friend comment "shop that flaring out and this will be a sick shot". I included the flare because i thought it worked well. Should i have left the light out? Or is it ok as it is? Critique away!

I've no idea how to 'shop out flare, however it could work well with this shot, i just think its a bit too much, if more of the sun was concealed by the trees it would work better imho

I agree with the post above that less flare would make for a cool photo along with more color and contrast. As is, it kind of overwhelms the shot.

If the flare had any color or depth to it you might have something here. But its not golden rays, its blown highlights and white sky. I think the photo is marginally more interesting with the flare than without, but it still doesnt do much for me.

Nope, doesn't work for me. Theres a big huge blown bright spot in the sky that's not nice to look at. The horizon looks off, theres no real detail in the foreground just shaded in objects and theres no real subject matter. just my 2 cents

Try it as black and white. I think the flair is the image.

^^^ WHY? eveytime theres an underexposed picture and overexposed picture a blown image someone has to mention converting it to B&W. A B&W image needs to be properly exposed just like a color image it won't make a bad image any better.

You sir, are forgetting that any image can be converted to BW instantly creating art. Its really pretty magical. The only thing better is selective color :)

Could you warm up the white balance to make the sun more golden, and see what it looks like just for kicks?

Is that any better? I think the sunlight also makes the picture as well, but, everyone to their own.
