I am a bit confused

http://www.alienbees.com/abr800.html (external link)

So is this regular WS like every one else or is this true WS Paul Buff? (not trying to start anything I am really looking at getting a ring light.)

The site says:
320 Wattseconds
320 True Wattseconds

Don't try to confuse me with the facts, my mind is already made up.

Suicidn,

I don't get the lighting setup. Why a bare key light and then a socked BD?

actually the bd was the key light and the bare was a fill/cross from the sun. the actual lighting setup was moved around accordingly. the bts shot was just a general idea of how we lit it.

Well got 4 AB lights a few weeks ago. One of the b1600s did not work so i returned it today for a Einstien. Looks like the back order is only a day or two now.

Loving this thread; the work presented here is so inspirational!

After heavily considering the Einstein + Large Foldable Octabox combo as an entry kit into the world of off-camera flash, I decided instead on a B800 + Large Octa combo and also picked up from B&H a background support, thunder grey background, reflector kit, small stand and shoe attachment for the 430EX II that I already have. I don't plan on doing anything elaborate, but I hope this setup will be versatile enough for the time being.

I'm having trouble choosing between the 15° and 30° grid for the hobd. Does anyone have any examples side by side?

+1 I was thinking the same... and there is a good $30 difference separating the two.

That's almost exactly the same setup I have (minus the background and trade the 430 for a 580). Its been a great starter setup for me.
