Today I received my 10' stand, large octa and B800 from PCB, and good lord does that thing seem heavy when attached to the B800. Is it safe to leave it all attached when it's not in use, or should I be dismounting it from the light and storing it that way?

+1. I left my B800 with large octa up for about 4 weeks without a problem.

Manfrotto 085BS appears to be pretty good. Will probably get one or two when I finally purchase my strobes. Curious how they would be for on location work, since that is where I would be using them most often.

Cool.
But why use socks on the BD under a bright sun.

It provided me with softer lighting on her face kuya Tony. I tested it with and without by tethering shots to my Ipad in the room behind the setup. The sock definately helped especially since I was using practicaly full power and shooting at fstops of f13-f18 depending on how I wanted the ambient to balance.

Mind sharing your boom arm?

Cowboy studios cheapo HD Boom stand. Its great for location as its much lighter to lug around than my manfrotto studio setup. Plus if I break it I wont shed a tear, nor will my wallett. It holds a B800 and an HOBD or a 60" Softlighter no problem.

Awesome setup, this is what we use in my studio. But we use lighter setups for location work. Especially if you have a large area to cover in a short period of time.

Yeah there are a few others as well. Not sure which thread I was reading, (possibly the grip thread or an actual thread on booms) but they went through a few different booms and this was one of them that was mentioned. I would ask some of the more seasoned pros on here what they use and how they feel their particular booms work for them.
