I mostly needed to know if the B800 could overpower the sun mostly for automotive shots where using bare flash is mostly ok. For portraits you can get closer (for most shots) using modifiers so maybe I could make it work. I could also just wait until a later time of the day to do the shoot.

Wait later or fork up the little bit extra for the b1600's. i'd rather have too much power than too little imho

I have a post earlier in this thread that illustrates how an ABR800 and Einstein 640 were used, with the sun. I think its about page 99

Not a fan of the large negative space (personal taste), but everything else about that image is very nice :)

If you have the option to wait and you have the B800(s) already, then wait. The late afternoon/golden hour/dusk is a great time to shoot cars. Keep in mind that you'll have to work faster than you would at midday, because the light will be changing faster. Generally, I try to get larger modifiers with cars, with metallic paint, when you use bare flash, you have to be both very creative with your flash(es)' placement and judicious about balancing flash and ambient to get great results, IMO.

Nicely done Jerome. She's a little stunner....amazing eyes !
It might have been fun to do the crop the same way, but have her bend her arms so that we could see all of her arms and hands. As some folks like to say, "if it bends, bend it".

@ Jeromego... i like the negative space and that allows you to title and font plus it always give you cropping options in post.. wide is always good. !

excellent lighting too..

I know I commented on this on the other thread Pham, but great work...This has got to be a composite of 4 or 5 elements at least, but it pulls together really nicely! I think her serenity is what's most disconcerting...doesn't help that I watched 28 days later last night :)

it was a composite of at least 7-8 things..

1. grass
2. sky
3. clouds
4. moon
5. house
6. black trees behind the house
7. large tree on left side
8. annabelle

i am learning better compositing thru tutorials.. so i followed one pretty much to the t..

the photo of the little girl was taken about 1 year ago and i thought it worked in this setting perfectly..

thanks!
