chris- moving my flickr comment here so others outside the photo world don't see it
skin looks super nice at 100%
i feel the shadows are missing tho,

i downloaded this one curve layer set to luminosity and did the black eye dropper deep in her armpit area, and the white one next to face then lowered opacity to around 70-75%, it boosted the blacks a bit. Im on the g/fs uncalibrated MBP atm so tweaking would be needed.

I need get a good boom >.> i went with the budget adorama 30 dollar one... pretty much wasted 30 bucks even tho the reviews were good.
you recently got a boom arm didn't you?

adrian- looking good, best thing i can suggest is spend a few weekends shooting for hours on end (until your wife wants to kill you) and learn lighting
youtube/ search forums for lighting guides.

learn the basic lighting setups, short, broad, rembrandt , butterfly w.e the other ones are called (while your still married ) then hop over to MM and break all the rules you just learned :P

Thanks for the feeback! It's funny you mention that because I had the original version and the version I posted and was going back and forth on which one to actually post. I decided to lift the shadows with an exposure/gamme adjustment layer. here's the original. Let me know what you think!

question: I currently have 1 AB800. I am thinking of purchasing a second AB, to shoot larger groups (about 25-30 people - one AB on each side of camera)

If I purchase an AB1600, will I need to simply set the power to 1/2 to get balanced lighting with my AB800 on the other side of camera? It seems like this should work, but maybe I'm missing something.

I don't know how the power increments work from the B800 to the 1600 but the simple way would be just to meter it. i did family photos recently and had my ABR800 with moon unit on the left and Einstein with large octa on the right and metered both to f/11. don't rmemeber the power settings but the lighting was even so I as happy..

Chimping would be your best bet I would suppose in that case. I meter with the CC but might be getting a Sekonic light meter though.

Do 1600's have the option to shoot half power and full power with the push of a button? My White Lightning X1600 has that option. If the blue button isn't pushed, it is shooting like a B800 power wise, once I push the blue button, the power goes to the 1600 mode and gets extremely powerful.
