agree. good thing it's easily cloneable. depends on the shooter/client though

great job shooting white on white. Did you light the background separately? I know ppl have a hard time shooting white on white if they don't light bg separately because the clothing gets blown out.

Nope. This one was a single strobe shot. I used an AB1600 with a 83 inch soft silver PLM with diffusion panel right behind me. The model was right up against the background paper so there was no falloff between the model and the drop. If you look at the catchlight you can see my shadow in the middle of it. If you want to see the technique demonstrated Joel Grimes has a video on it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQEynlnc-Ik (external link)

I originally planned on leaving it in but after reading your comments decided to take it out.

I really like the way you did these.
Great use of sun as kicker and nice soft smooth light from the front.

Especially the last one. If I were her husband I'd order a really big canvas. :-)

Gonzo,
Nice. I like the big PLM for this kind of shot.

When I got the big V1 PLM, it was bright silver but the diffusion panel made it into a stellar source. Its so easy to get smooth soft light when you can stand in front of it and still light the subject. Better than a ring light because the shadows are controllable.

I had used it for group shots before where I stood mostly under it and used it to give a nice big field of soft light for the winners table of a dog show. After watching the Grimes video I decided to try it for this project. I needed to shoot several young ladies in costume in a short time frame. Its very simple beauty lighting, mostly shadowless on the drop. The ability to get a white drop with one light is an added bonus.
