Just be careful not to go too large. You might not get the effect youre looking for.

I should've said the largest I'll have space for, I have a 42" octabox now, I'm thinking a 60" would be the largest I'd go.

I'd start looking at PLM's at that point.

Anybody else using Alien Bees with Yongnuo 603's? The fastest shutter speed that I was able to use was 1/160. Is it the transceiver or the strobe? Shooting with 5D2.

Its probably a combo of the camera and the triggers. The max synch is listed at 1/200 but if you have even the slightest trigger delay then its 160. The problem is not with the strobes.

PLMs, parabolic light modifiers are a line of large umbrellas made by Paul C Buff. They are probably the cheapest way to get very large light sources, especially when combined with the available diffusion panels.

I LOVE my 86" PLMs from Paul Buff. Yes they're large, they create soft light, especially if you put on the white diffuser (like a white sheet that covers the front). If you want slightly harder shadows, take off the diffuser. Completely different look. The PLM from Paul Buff are "bounce back" umbrellas, not the "shoot through" type, so the light is more focused, Don't expect to light a large wide group with just 1 of these.

They do make a shoot tbrough version of the PLM.

Now before you guys critique my subject and background, this is my first time using more than one strobe. AB's are brand new to me. I purchased a WLX3200 and 2x AB1600's. I invited my brother over yesterday who is NOT an MMA fighter; I just happened to be trying to recreate that style of lighting and asked him pose as if he was having a profile photo taken. I would like some honest C+C on the lighting, however.

3300 feet on sky mountain in Northern CA, picked up the sword at a novelty store that morning, surprised it was real and pretty darn sharp.
