Nice! You nailed the depth of field. Did you try getting rid of the bright area in the top left corner? In my opinion that would make this even stronger image. Now it leads my eyes away from the subject.

I recently started using an ABR800 Ring Flash with my old XSi and it's 18-55 kit lens for a self-contained photo booth setup. It produces amazing, fun photos! Everyone loves it (after they get their vision back, haha!!!)
