Is this a decent desktop setup for editing?

Saw this on Newegg. I thought it was decent until I saw the 4 gig Ram..non-upgradable. What do you think?

I saw that today too. It does look pretty good, but 4GB of RAM is tough. If you have smaller files you would be OK as long as you don't multi-task.

Are you sure the RAM isn't upgradeable? I know there is only 2 slots, but you could buy 2x4GB sticks and get to 8GB. Money wise, not the best way to go though. By the time you bought the extra RAM you could buy a different desktop.

looks good to me.. but yes bump the memory... you dont NEED more than 4gb..but the more the merrier the machine is... you can disable windows 7 features to free up ram to not need more...

I'm guessing the RAM is upgradable based on the specs of the other models but it doesn't say. It looks like I'd have to spend another $125 or so to upgrade the RAM...bummer.

yup.. youd want to get it in first... dont upgrade while buying... it may have only 2 slots or 4... it may have 2-2 or 4-1's filling the slots... also something to note... some of these machines are cheap and they cut corners at the expense of performance... not all the time but sometimes..

buy it.. get it in... open it. (will void warranty)... then look.. it may have 4 slots and have 2 dimms in it leaving 2 open.. however if the board can take say ddr2-6400 it may have ddr2-5300 or 4200 for slower cheaper ram....

My concern would be the quality of the MB, as it only has 2 memory slots. You would have to buy two higher capacity sticks and toss/sell the existing memory.

Also, small single rear fan.
