On Sunday, November 21 a Delta IV Heavy rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station carrying a National Reconnaissance Office spy satellite. Standing at nearly 24 stories tall, it is the worlds largest rocket by height. This was only the fourth launch of the Delta 4 Heavy so I was quite happy to shoot it.

These images were from from approximately 7 miles away at a public viewing location.

Equipment used. Canon 7D, Canon 500L and 1.4x

#1 The Delta IV stands fully fueled shortly before launch.

The last one FTW. Great shots. It's not the a recon satellite, it's the new satellite for POTN. Pekka said there were new things coming down the pipe and he wasn't kidding.

Thanks for sharing. That's a huge rocket they launched. Very cool pics and great job from the distance.

Great pictures!

It's an experience to view the massive Delta IV heavy launch. I was also there but from a slightly different view point.;)

BTW I really like picture 5. Great shot of the common booster core.

Wow. How'd you manage to be in two places at once?
At least that is the impression I get. Nicely done

Thanks! That was the first time I had viewed from KARS park, not a bad place really. I got lucky with the launch being scrubbed and the 48 hr turnaround.

Anxious to get back down for 133 whenever it may be.
