Great work. Nice to see what regular flashes are capable of with decent modifiers.

Wow, all three are sensational shots Andrei! I struggle to pick a favorite out of the three, love them all!
Reflector is used for the gorgeous gold bokeh background in the first two shots?

Karl.

thanks all. the reflector is used as fill in the first two, while the 430EXII in the umbrella on the background. the last one the 430EXII is bare, behind model firing towards the camera.

I'm a big fan of headshots in general and like these very much...I too like #3 a lot. Can I ask, was it a conscious decision to have her nose break the line of her cheek? Rules are for breaking and all that, but generally people have told me that's a no-no. It's not a criticism (at all), I'm just curious as to the thought process.

i'm aware of the rule, and there were some shots that followed, but this one i liked better so i just used it. i was thinking of compositing from other shots to "fix" it but decided against it.

I don't blame you, it's a lovely shot. :)

(FWIW, some areas look a little oversharpened, to my eye at least, but I guess that's either personal taste or due to the downsizing.)
