Would it be possible to alter the image posting rules to allow images with 1100px on their longest side?

Strangely enough Zenfolio only has 800px and 1100px as an option and nothing in between. And 800px seems so small on today's monitors. I know a lot of P.O.T.N. members do in fact use Zenfolio, so what are the chances of getting this changed?

I know it's probably 0%, but I figured I had to ask...

Thanks!

The real odd part is the limit on posted pics, on a photo site, when the poster is hosting it themselves (vs on the forum server in which case I understand)

BUT 56KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

If I was on 56k I'm still bright enough to realize I'm on a photo site and should expect to hear the groan of the modem :D

Even 1100 may be too large to avoid scrolling horizontally due to the rest of the board code (avatars, user names, etc) that also uses screen real estate.

What happens when we make it 1100 pixels? Who else won't get to display their desired size? Flickr folks? SMugMug? Pbase? Unfortunately someone will always be effected.

Let's also not forget that people often view the forum from devices like an iPad, Netbook, or Laptop, where screens are not always 1920x1080 or even 1680x1050, but might be 1024x768, or 1366x768.

What you can do is hyperink the smaller photo with a link to a larger size:-

IMAGE LINK: http://farm5.static.flickr.com …47055074_d257f6bf51_o.jpg (external link)
(click on photo for larger view)

The code is:-

Maybe you should ask why Zenfolio uses 1100 pixels instead of 1024. Maybe you need to raise the issue with them. For that matter, SmugMug for one allows you to stipulate custom sizes in your images by editing the link to replace the standard size with a pixel dimension. That's if the 8 standard sizes (other than the original) aren't enough. Does Zenfolio allow that option?

I resize all my photos to 1024x as a standard. I think it's the perfect size for viewing on the internet, on any monitor.

When I post from flickr I often change the size in the code. Not too hard to do. Just do it proportionally.

I simply upload my images to Zenfolio downsized to 1024 px on the long end, remove protection and link to that original.
