My friend owns a local car shop that restore old cars named kreations and had several cars sold on barrett jackson's auction. On of his cars is on the front page of barrett jackson web for 2-3 months http://www.barrett-jackson.com (external link) . I am expected to shoot the car with pin up model but the car is the main part of the shoot. The car is a candy black that is very reflective. I read that back mainly gives of direct reflection, i was able to light the car with a Photogenetic 2500 PL from 20 feet away with 66in umbrella and not see the light in the reflection. should i light the background and just the chrome of the car.

I have these lights, white lightning x1600, x800, Alien bee A800, ABR800 and photogentic 2500pl, 1250pl and to moded vivtar 285hv that work with setup.

If you can't make it look this good with strobes, Merc, (external link) then maybe you should rethink using strobes.

That shot was taken in a parking lot with natural, late evening light. If it were me, I'd put the model behind the car since you said, "the car is the main part of the shoot." I would only kick a little light into the model if I needed to.

There are some links to strobe shoots in post #40 of the "Tips" thread in my Sig if you insist on using them.

Yes, including the pole that was growing out of the car. Need to remove a background from something?

You'll probably need more than one sheet. And you'll need one for the side too. Better stretch them or you'll have wrinkles in your "sky". ;)

I should have read the title! It's a '58.
