Same set up, 2 seperate compositions. Which do you prefer? Further away, or closer in with the rock in the foreground larger?? Can't decide, but I am thinking the rock to close, is a distraction? Just curious at what others think. Thanks to everyone in advance

Part of the problem is the main rock isn't all that interesting but it sucks up a lot of canvas. I do like the relationship of this rock to the smaller rocks in frame 1. But the rock as a foreground or main subject works less well with the rest of the image. I am wondering out loud what shooting from the river would be like. Wading in up to the knees and setting the tripod in the water or checking out a variety of other perspectives. Perhaps this is the best perspective. I like the rock bank though the bridge seems a bit odd (the slope) in the background. The light is a tad harsh but you have managed it well.

I vote for two---first one, IMHO, rock is overwhelming.

#1 for me. My eye focuses on the big rock and then I explore the rest of the picture. #2, I don't know where to look first....

I like the 2nd one best - it seems more balanced to me. Nice shot!

I belive the bridge was slanted like that, high to low, but even if it was like that, it would look better straight I imagine, but will I loose too much cropped off, from starightened the bridge?

Dustman - I am talking about straighten the horizon - not the bridge. It is way up to the left in the 1st and just a wee bit on the 2nd.....use the water line.

What is the EXIF on this?

The quality doesn't look very good...or is it JPEG compression?
