If weight is not an issue, which FL do you think will be much more useful for Street Photography ? I'm trying to decide if I should keep my 24-70 or just purchase a 70-200 and buy a prime 30mm to take care of those wider angle shots.
Anyone?

Yeah, pretty tough decisions, unfortunately I can't afford both this year

I like what the 70-200 has to offer for pure candid shots, also perfect for my portrait sessions, with the 24-70, you have to be more much more closer to the scene/person to get the shot in a street setting.Very few folks agree with this, but I'm one of them.

I don't shoot street candids but do a fair bit of cadid shooting at weddings. I use this focal length much more than the 24-70 range as it allows me to stand out of the way and get the shots I need. The longer focal length also gives more subject isolation due to the smaller DOF. I do howveer have another body with a 16-35f2.8 attached to give me a wider shot if necessary although I rarely use it when shooting candids.

This is NOT the same as using a telephoto. Since this consideration is limited by me being uncomfortable, my most used focal length for street is 50mm. The pictures below are all taken with the 50L. -
