Sent my 300D off to Canon in Borehamwood this afternoon for repair of the scourge of the curse of the knackered shutter - my images have the dreaded curved white line through them.

Will update when I get it back....

Really sorry to hear that, Dave. Have they given you an estimate for repair time? They're usually pretty good at meeting the estimates.

Not a good time of year for the camera to go wonky... A1 GP, Goodwood Revival... :(

28 days "ish" Glenn

has totally scuppered my plans, total bugger.

hopefully have it back for the end of the month or just after - but have my fingers crossed for before that. will definitely miss the Revival, was planning on doing the A1 GP Friday. might make it.

:(

I know exactly how you feel! Mine broke on the 27th while I was in the middle of shooting three football games. Luckily I just got the notification that it's been fixed and on it's way back to me this morning!

Hopefully you'll get the same news soon!

Thanks for looking!

Hi Dave - how many shutter clicks did you get out of it before it died?

Erm....a lot! Not quite sure but must be a good few thousand

I've had it since february, bit disappointed that it's shown this fault.

It didn't die completely, just on large apertures showed the curved line thing. anything smaller than f7 and it wasn't noticeable.

wonder what'll happen in another 6 months time?!

*update*

They received it! THANKS Royal Mail!

Gave them the serial number, the bloke on the phone said "yeah that's a warranty fault" and "reckon it should be back in a week and a half or so".

If that's true, that's a result! 8)

If it comes back in time I'll book some tickets...

I even got a letter from them this morning (I'd left the house before it arrived) saying they confirm receipt. Blimey...efficiency....

More updates as and when.

20D on hold now .... arse

So generous Marie. Maybe you should join him on a motorsport event, and share the 300D. :)

Anyway, my mate had the same problem, and he had done approx 7000 clicks. After 8 weeks, shop still had no idea how long, as it was overseas, and after pressure was placed on them, a BLACK 300D was exchanged.
