Definitely the original. From what I an find online, both are super sharp and handle well. I'm not gonna need the weather sealing, not can I afford the price tag of the red ring. :D

I can't speak to the 100L... but.. the original is super sharp... a fun lens to shoot.

Everyone is going to start posting massive amounts of spring flowers soon, so I thought I would post something a little different.

from the Ostrich Festival a couple of weeks ago . . .

I know most people think I'm just a big . . . rooster, I was going to say rooster not that other thing.

It's just not true, I'm really just a regular guy . . .

. . . in a big rooster suit.

Still dig #6.

And... you love flowers...deep down.. I just know it. :)

I think you are going to be safe this year... the wildflower season isn't looking good. Lack of rain and the freezes from what I'm seeing on Desert USA.

Thanks Frank. You can't STILL dig #6 because you have never seen it before, you saw one that was the same concept but a different horse.

This one . . .

This one isn't moving, whereas the other one is a "dragging the shutter" shot.

Yeah.. I was looking at the Sigma 150 like you recommended, but I'm pretty sure to hand hold at that lenghth, my shutter would have to be pretty high, unless I got IS.. but the IS is more than I can spend on a lens..

Still thinking about the Canon 100.... I guess something would be better than nothing.. Or maybe just get the extension tubes like you guys said. lol...

Everytime the flowers bloom I get all itchy for a macro lens.

Kristy, Kristy, Kristy............... :)

Can't wait for you to get a macro lens :)

The 100mm Macro L or none L are both about equal, shot and had both. To be honest if I ever got one again I would save the cash and get regular 100mm macro. Unless I actually needed the IS.

See and I was going to send you a set of tubes before :p

Instead of getting a macro lens why not get extension tubes?
I do alot of freelensing to make my stuff macro. Id like to use tubes sometimes but just saying.. cheaper. haha

That shot (#6) baffles me a bit.. How did you drag the shutter to get everything all nice an blurry.. yet keep the horse in focus...? Tracking him?

Have you been hanging out with Dean at the race tracks to perfect the art?

hahaha.. I've been talking about getting one for years... the timing just never works out for me though. I sold my 20D a few months back, and have been hanging on to the cash, trying to decide what to buy.

Choices are a nice P&S camera that has a flash (something like a G11 or S95). Because it would be nice to have something for when I go places in the dark, and don't want to lug out my gear....

A Macro Lens

or just save it for some day when I want to upgrade my body, or switch brands, or invest in some beachfront property in Arizona... ;)

I've never used tubes... don't even know how they work. lol.. But I understand that you loose light from them and end up having to compensate for it. If I shoot macro, I know I'll want to be shooting at least f/10 - f/16, and I'll need my shutter around 1/200 for tack sharp images.. so that doesn't leave much room for the ISO to pick up slack.. lol..

Second-curtain flash at the end of zooming with the lens. Don't think the carousel is turning.

I see the lights now... :) Thanks mister..

Maybe our next outing should focus on trying new "creative" effects. Anyone that knows how to do something cool can teach. lol...

The positive to take away from this is the shot ...maybe not the same... left an positive impression.

The negative in this... I might be getting senile? ;)

Nice Doug, I really enjoyed that series. For some reason it seems to almost tell a story. Almost an interpretation of what you saw artistically while wondering through the festival.

Very nice again...
